Now WordPress itself is an awesome system and we use it heavily. We work very hard to keep WordPress sites secure as we talked about in our last post about WordPress. What we wanted to highlight was just how popular and well used it is. Here’s some key facts:

What do you need to do if you’re hosted by Dedicated UK Hosting? Nothing! We’ve done a few things for you though.

• When we create your WordPress details, we don’t use standard account names and passwords exceed the recommended complexity levels.
• Our security partner CloudFlare, have released a rule which detects and stops the attack, rendering it incapacitated.
• We’ve just been through a round of installing a WordPress plugin to all of our hosted WordPress sites which limits the number of unsuccessful login attempts and applies a temporary ban if this is exceeded. The ban time increases each time it’s triggered.
• Our firewalls already detect number of connections on a server level and if an excessive amount are seen from IP’s, those IP’s are limited or blocked on a temporary basis.

Market Research in short pays people for their opinions, some of the time people get to try things out for free and keep them afterwards. All working towards the aim of improving and promoting brand awareness. For example if a drink company wants to introduce BEST COLA, would it sell? Using the latest WordPress site, we’ve introduced a theme incorporating Google fonts, a Search Engine Optimisation package, Facebook and Twitter integration as well as a Facebook commenting system and automatic post system.

This site is another of our WordPress content management system websites. With easy adding of videos, photos and other dynamic content this starts putting websites back where they should be – in the hands of their owners.

This site has also been added to our CloudFlare installation. This kind of site would often be source heavy and therefore slow to load. It’s not only blisteringly fast, it’s editable anytime, anywhere using just a web browser.

Do you use a tablet or smartphone? That’s OK too, you could be editing your site with an app from aywhere in the world.

Autosphere UK offer a number of electronic automobile services including alarm systems, tracking systems, mileage correction and  ECU remapping. Of course with a site like this, it’ll take a little time to get all of the content added. We’re now working with the site owner to increase their search engine range and listings.

Hey, developers! We expect to WordPress 3.5 to be ready in just a few short weeks. Please, please test your plugins and themes against beta 3. Media management has been rewritten, and we’ve taken great pains to ensure most plugins will work the same as before, but we’re not perfect. We would like to hear about any incompatibilities we’ve caused so we can work with you to address them before release, rather than after. I think you’ll agree it’s much better that way.

To test WordPress 3.5, try the WordPress Beta Tester plugin (you’ll want “bleeding edge nightlies”). Or you can download the beta here (zip). For more on 3.5, check out the extensive Beta 1 blog post, which covers what’s new in version 3.5 and how you can help. We made more than 300 changes since beta 2. At this point, the Add Media dialog is complete, and we’re now just working on fixing up inserting images into the editor. We’ve also updated to jQuery UI 1.9.1, SimplePie 1.3.1, and TinyMCE 3.5.7.

The usual warnings apply: We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but this is software still in development, so we don’t recommend that you run it on a production site. Set up a test site to play with the new version.
